br> Now Sati is a cognition of several series of events in history, both medieval and mythology. Let’s clear up any misunderstandings by going back to the goddess Sati, the better half of Lord Shiva. According to Shiv purana, the marriage of Shiva Sati was not accepted by Sati’s father, Mr. Dakah. So when a ‘yagn’ was made by him, invitations were given to all the Gods for the ordinance. Shiv Sati was not invited for obvious reasons. Sati felt it was an insult not to invite Shiva, one of the omnipotent forms of the triad, to such a pious ceremony. Sati went to Yagn uninvited with a sad heart, but was insulted by her virgin family. Hearing such comments about Lord Shiv, she became savage and swore in disgust, sacrificing herself in eternal fire for her husband to be humiliated in front of the whole world. The consequential conditions were known, but not within the scope of the disclosure here. So now this was an example of Sati devi’s Sahagamana of her own accord for her husband. Then the legend tells us many ‘pativratya’ stories in which a husband is considered the God of his wife, after being widowed, his wife can do nothing but sacrifice herself of her own will. Note that it was not considered taboo at the time because 1. It was not coercion, 2. The moral practices of society of that time accepted it because even men were religious enough at the time. Now comes the famous story of Madri, the mother of the Pandava twins, as a similar narrative. King Pandu was never able to have intercourse with his wives due to a curse. But once there came an example from excited movements, where harmonious tastes oppressed Madri Pandu. Circumstances killed the king. Now Madri felt so ashamed for such a scenario that led to her husband’s death, again not a taboo or forced conviction, but the thought that she was planning to give her life. Years later, all went well, as always, the myth was spread and misinterpreted, and very few women have ever had to. Because if such brutal practices took place in Islam, people would always compare them with the teachings of the Qur’an, and they say that nowhere in the Qur’an there is an element of anti-Islamic propaganda.
